THE CORNER TABLE
Providing Free Meals To Those In Need
Our Community Kitchen serves hot meals to those in need five days a week. Guests have the option to dine in or take their meals to go.
The Community Kitchen serves lunch Monday-Friday from 11:30AM-12:30PM.
We also provide daily breads, pastries, produce and other food items when guests depart.
Guests are welcome to arrive prior to 11:30AM and enjoy coffee on our back patio area or back indoor dining area.
Our service is restaurant style with a greeter, waiters, and we always serve a side of respect to all who dine at our table. Our guests enjoy a family-friendly and judgement free atmosphere. We feel that serving those in a time of need creates a greater sense of dignity.
It takes an average of 20 volunteers a day to operate. If you are interested in serving, please visit our Volunteer page.
THE BACKPACK PROGRAM
The Backpack Program serves children in forty+ local schools who face hunger on the weekends in Catawba and Alexander County. Each week school is in session, over 1,200 children receive a bag full of food weighing up to 7 lbs. The food supplied is either purchased in bulk (at cost) or donated by various community members and local businesses. Through our calculations, it costs $200 for one child to receive meals each weekend, all school year long.
The Backpack Program exists thanks to the constant support and continued dedication of our community. The program is driven by volunteers who give their time, talent and treasures. These special volunteers work hard packing bags, stocking shelves, organizing inventory, fundraising and seeking community support to secure financial contributions.
Help us fight local childhood hunger and reduce the barrier to a good education!

THE DEBBIE PAYSEUR PACKING PROGRAM
The packing program was established to honor the memory and work of Debbie Payseur; A woman who always put others first, provided for those in need, and loved to feed people. Debbie was most known for her Christmas chicken casseroles she delivered around the community – many who were elderly, had little to no family or chronic health issues.
To keep Debbie’s mission to feed and provide for those in need all throughout the community, the Debbie Payseur Packing Program was launched. The packing program is intended to spread meals all throughout the community at various locations to reach more people who are battling hunger and going through unfortunate situations. We know that this through this program we can reach people who can’t reach us.
How does it work?
We will use donated catered food and daily extras from our lunch meal to assemble seal packed meals with a label including packing date, list of foods, and heating instructions. The meals will be in containers that are refrigerator, freezer, oven and microwave safe. Once we pack – we will freeze. These meals will then be dispersed throughout the community to reach others who could benefit from a free meal. This program will allow us to reach more people and eliminate waste.
How can you help?
To reach more people we will need the support of various churches, schools, organizations, housing complexes, etc. to help us disperse the food. Meals can be picked up on a weekly basis or as needed. Our goal is to have at least one pick-up location in the following communities: Catawba, Claremont, Conover, Maiden, and Sherrills Ford. Other locations are welcomed too!
